The following text is made for the adherence of by the members of this forum. They are to be followed. These rules also contain character concepts that should be kept in mind when creating your character. You will need to make a profile before you begin play as well. The profile will be reviewed by myself, or my staff and if it needs to be changed then do change it. Also, do not change it after it has been OKed.
Character Creation
Ok folks—as nice as it is to sometimes see a vampire or a demon, it is time things get put to rest. Stop trying to simply start off with a "powerful" creature to get a head start. You are going to be WEAK when you begin! You hear me?!? WEAK!! Everything has a weakness as well. Be creative with what you make—if you make a demon, make it ugly looking. Try using elves, dark elves, or even an orc or a gnome. Some people are really good with Neko's as well, and other furry creatures. Add some spunk to your character, some variation. For example—perhaps your necromancer has a terrible scar along his eye so he is partially blind in that eye from an experiment, or the elf has a tattoo that extends the length of one of his arms for some reason. Find stuff to put into the character that you might be able to turn into a story.
It's nice to have magickal weapons, I know—but understand they aren't going to always be around completely. Ok, so maybe everyone can have one, but let's not make them always above the standard iron or steel sword. Sure, they can have special qualities, but that is no reason for them to shatter steel swords because they are magickally enhanced. Besides, how many people walk around with a simple sword now-a-days? Sometimes you just got to give some stuff up
Armor
Armor is meant to take damage. Don't worry about you "dying" because your chain shirt just took a stab. Believe it or not, it does take a bit to get through it. Sure it hurts, but you're still alive right? That's all that matters at that point in time.
Battles are turned based. It is not fair to someone who types slow if you use the "speed" method, or use some crazy method of using a specific limitation to what someone types. Let them type as much as they dang well please. If they do multiple attacks and you interrupt them say on the second attack out of five, the other three never happen—you interrupted them from doing it!!
It isn't right for someone to play a bad guy for people to simply "ignore" the attack because the character can not fight, or you don't feel like fighting. Sometimes you get bad days IRL, and so does the character. Let things go—it happens. Run if need be. But, to those who do play the bad guys: don't always interrupt someone's fun because you want to be "evil" or an ass. Sometimes you have to give characters time to work. Showing up, and them fearing for themselves is one thing, but constantly attacking someone over and over and over every single chance you get can get a bit annoying and will drive players off. Be considerate when playing the Villain. And remember, sometimes characters can get resurrected (more on this below)
If you do not see a send, or the send comes right before yours, you know, within a few seconds that is ok. The person attacking should give the person a chance to respond. Sometimes timing can really ruin the flow. After all, this is a game based on text, and sometimes you might catch them just before they hit that button. Use your judgment to determine things. Also note—if you make a send that is relevant to someone put a indicator for them to read. If you attack someone in your intro, you need to point out that they are specifically mentioned. After all, people do not need to read every send for fear of their lives. Note this applies to chat rooms only.
DO NOT DO THIS FOREVER. Everyone gets hit. Sometimes, however, it is fine to keep evading but in doing so you must injure yourself. For example, you narrowly avoided being cut by a blade, but as a result you threw yourself roughly to the ground. This puts you in a bad position for a follow up attack, and the impact is going to be harsh. It is much like a trade off—you didn’t take as much damage, but you did put yourself in a worse position. Just don’t keep doing this either. No one can dodge forever, but more powerful characters dodge a lot longer.
You can die. No one here is immortal in the sense of death. Unless your character has been around for many, many years (seven or so) then you might be able to start adding unique quirks. Like stabbing them won’t “kill” them per say, but may vanquish them for several months before they can get a new body. This can make it hard to slay the more powerful characters (which It should be—they are powerful after all). But to those of you who start doing this in your later years…make it easy for them to be slain to. For example, say your all mighty character can’t simply die by a stab to the heart, but a smite evil (or good) spell would slay them indefinitely. A “level 1” character can do that kind of spell. Also, state the weakness without actually saying it. Give plenty of hints as to what it is so people have to try and figure it out. But again, don’t make it too difficult to discover. Remember, you might be powerful, but there is always something more powerful then yourself out there
A touchy subject—this is something that is very difficult to do. NO CHARACTER should be able to do this starting, no matter what training they have. It takes a long time to learn to do this. Your character needs an IC way of reaching this person, or someone must reach them for the character. One needs the body and the soul for revival. **Note: Souls DO fly away if you do not capture them, and not everyone, if anyone, can capture a soul. Beginning characters should not be able to do so unless until they gain some experience in the world*
The next piece is to talk about certain things that a player should NEVER do.
1. If a moderator, or a GM of a particular game says something. LISTEN. IF someone is a moderator, that means I have put my faith in them to make the right calls for certain things. If you are playing in someone else's game it is there game and there rules. Though, just remember--the game is not about seeing who is better it is about ROLE PLAYING.
2. Do not question the administrator. I am going to be pretty fair, and if I ever start to get unfair, someone please feel free to tell and i will DISCUSS it with you, not fight about it. If I ask you to do something, however, like modify a post for a reason (due to certain comments or something) then do it. I can do it for you, but I am going to be an adult about it.
3. NO GOD PLAYING! This includes, and/or is not limited to : making your character immortal (This means they can not die, or they can only die by losing their heads. This seems a bit contradictory as opposed to the above one, however, this is much more problematic. One, it was never earned, and two--it might allow for the excuse of "the quickening kills you" or whatever. ), auto-hitting, using powers you would not have, and much more but you should obviously get the hint. It basically means: don't do something you're character could not normally do.
4. Do not say your character was revived. I WANT proof..and as far as I am concerned, I and MAYBE one other character that exist in DragonTown can revive. So, don't use that route. No one has earned the ability yet
5. DO NOT MIX THIS PLACE AND OTHER PLACES. If you bring in a character from another world they are a NEW character for purposes of RP here. Also, do not bring in Drama from other places. I don't want to ban anybody more than the next admin.
