Creating a Character
When creating a character, there are a lot of things to take into consideration. Most of which determines the character as a whole.
1) What race is he/her
2) What do they look like
3) What is the alignment of my character (Good, Neutral, Evil)
4) What subtype is my alignment? (Chaotic,Neutral, Lawful?)
Some races determine your alignment by themselves, giving a player no choice but to play that kind of way. For example, Angels will a type of good (lawful or chaotic in some cases), while demons (chaotic) and devils (lawful) will always be evil. Of course, it would help if people knew exactly what each alignment met (see the section "Alignments" for more).
Another thing you need to note is characters need flaws. They can not be, nor will they be, prepared for everything. Sometimes you can be bested for a plot, or other thing for character development. Not every character needs to be "a tall man with black hair and blue eyes". Why not something of "an average height, with brown messy hair, and a few scares upon a tanned face" ? Its interesting to play a character who is blind, or maybe lost an eye. Add some unique things to a character for better play.
Make a BELIEVABLE background--the likelihood of a devil and an angel having a child is unrealistic. I understand this is fantasy, but even fantasy has some realism to it. That doesn't mean, however, it is impossible. When making things like that, make a damn good background--and do not expect to hold the power of both. Something is obviously more dominate than the other. Consider where you want your characters to go, and use a background that can help others notice those key points. It also gives you good conversational pieces when talking to others
